HOW DIALOGUE TURNS TO ACTION PLANS!

On September 16, 2007, citizens of the regional Dayton community participated in a “Dayton: City of Peace” Open Spaces Dialogue citizens' convention at the Dayton Convention Center.

The day brought together diverse and interested members of Dayton’s wider regional community. Convention participants started the process of envisioning and implementing positive, long-term changes that will benefit families and neighborhoods, as well as revitalize Dayton’s economic resources.

Intended as an action-oriented process, the “City of Peace” Open Spaces Dialogue brings community leaders committed to making peace with concrete, unified actions. The open space concept is an innovative technique that allows access by all individuals and ideas, yet enables the most productive ideas and leaders to rise to the top. Participants identified needs surrounding the goal of a peaceful community then established actions, or objectives, that will meet those goals. Participants are now creating “action plans” in which progress can be measured and resources applied as needed.
